A collaboration between the Research Lab at Liebling Haus Research Lab, the Department of Architecture at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and the Strategic Planning Unit of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, examining new models for affordable housing in Israel’s most expensive city, while negotiating the tensions between urban density, quality of life, and community living.

Following missile strikes that caused damage to dozens of heritage-listed buildings in the city, media coverage has raised misleading criticism regarding the issue of conservation. The first session in the series will include short lectures and an open discussion addressing the tension between conservation and the protection of historic buildings in Tel Aviv.

The Appendix: A Geddessian Hyperscraper - A speculative exploration of Tel Aviv’s White City, reimagining heritage as a living urban system. The project uses a dramatic “hyperscraper” to question how density, conservation, and public life can coexist — inviting debate, imagination, and new ways of seeing the city.

Once merely a “neutral boundary,” the historic glass of the Liebling Haus—marked by subtle distortions, bubbles, and wired textures—reveals its material presence. These imperfections hold memory, tracing shifts in technology and craftsmanship while reminding us that glass, endlessly recyclable, bridges past and future in architectural preservation.
