The second evening in the "Urban Kibbutz" series frames the urban space not just as a physical setting for housing, but as a social arena, and will deal with the planning and architectural aspects of these living environments. Experts and residents from Tel Aviv-Yafo and Frankfurt will offer proposals, exchange ideas, present case studies, and examine architectural, social, and economic solutions. Join us to design and examine models that integrate shared infrastructure, democratic management, and new sustainable design for housing, which will suit the needs of a contemporary urban society.
How do we plan and build affordable, sustainable, and community-oriented housing? What will the city of tomorrow look like, and what does it take to achieve this in terms of architecture and urban planning?
Seven exciting projects will be presented. They demonstrate that the future is already being built today: with Europe’s tallest wooden high-rise, a new housing project that puts cluster living into practice, an urban commune in the heart of tel aviv, and even co-living spaces in the capitalist market of Miami.
We will ask how to design an environment that fosters a sense of community, how to plan spaces that allow for sharing and pooling of resources, and what new and inspiring alternatives are currently available on the market for the benefit of a sustainable urban community.
We invite you to learn about the projects and enrich the discussion with your questions.
The Evening will be held in English.
