Living in Tel Aviv-Yafo - Workshop for Parents and Children Ages 6-8

We live in Tel Aviv-Yafo and in its nature, walk its streets, and play in its gardens. In this workshop, we will rediscover our immediate surroundings through focused, attentive attention to our senses. Using tools from the world of art, such as observation and drawing, we will pay attention to the animals in the garden, the various plants, the paths we walk daily, and the trees – the city's old-timers. We will talk together about the garden's planning, about the imagination involved in creating new spaces in the city, and whether we can also imagine a new space and future for our lives in Tel Aviv-Yafo centered on sustainability, community life, and urban nature.

This activity takes place as part of the exhibition Life, Plant, City: 100 Years of Geddes' Plan for Tel Aviv's Garden City. The exhibition explores the planning and social vision of Patrick Geddes, planner of the city of Tel Aviv and a multidisciplinary thinker who believed that the role of planning is to balance human needs with their environment.

To complement the exhibition, the School of the City at Liebling Haus is holding workshops on Tel Aviv-Yafo and our lives in the city through sensory experiences: observation, listening, dwelling, and imagination. The school offers an interdisciplinary approach developed by professionals from architecture, design, urbanism, and art.
