Fifth Wall

Actors deliver monologues directly to individual viewers, stripping away theatrical illusions. Instead of merely performing, they aim to engage and delve into the medium. The viewer controls the duration and limits of the interaction, thereby altering the conventional power dynamics between performer and audience. Without a stage, audience, scenery, or costumes, the viewer inadvertently becomes the focus of the character's desires. Thus, in each room, they embody a unique role for the actor or actress present in that space.

The focus of the work is on the human interaction as an artistic act, exploring the distinct nature of the theatrical event and the possible space that emerges between two strangers in a room designed for experiencing art.

The name of the work is a paraphrase of "The Fourth Wall" – the imaginary barrier between the stage and the audience. The name encourages thinking about "Fifth Wall" as a new space of presence, imagination, and shared play.
