A performance that explores bodily movements in space while encouraging a continuous dialogue between humans and architecture. This event celebrates the launch of a deck of cards created by the School of the City, designed for anyone interested in the experiential study of spaces.

Over the years, we at the School of the City created a series of exercises for life in space. These exercises enhance our understanding of new environments while improving our observational skills. We believe that learning about space doesn’t require new skills; instead, it involves expanding and refining our perception of the space around us. This series of exercises promotes a deeper spatial awareness, enabling us to better understand the places where we live, move freely within them, act comfortably, illuminate them effectively, and ultimately, appreciate and love these spaces.

Space and our presence within it form a complete whole. The series of exercises designed for living in space enhances this understanding and creates a cognitive environment where performance integrates with architecture. These exercises establish a functional space in which the body interacts with its surroundings, allowing us to learn how we influence it. Through these practices, we cultivate our sensitivity to light, materials, and the variety of sensations they evoke within us. The exercises aim to nurture our awareness of personal preferences and architectural and design choices, serving as expressions of our inner selves. This careful exploration of space leads to new insights about both ourselves and the environments we inhabit—whether our homes, cities, or places we visit.
