Life, Plant, City: Workshop in Ruth Garden

The workshop offers an in-depth study of Ruth Garden through mapping and sensory exercises that allow us to pay attention, decode our feelings in the place, and understand the reasons for these feelings as a result of the space's planning and design. Through a series of research exercises based on observation, attention, and actions in space, we will explore the foundations of good urbanism and the complexity of relationships between people and plants in urban space. These are tools for exploring and understanding a place that can be used in our homes, in urban spaces, or anywhere we find ourselves. This set of tools has been developed over the past decade at Liebling Haus. It offers everyone the opportunity to learn about a place through direct experience – learning based on presence, dwelling, and noticing the small details that make up a sense of place.

This activity takes place as part of the exhibition Life, Plant, City: 100 Years of Geddes' Plan for Tel Aviv's Garden City. The exhibition explores the planning and social vision of Patrick Geddes, planner of the city of Tel Aviv and a multidisciplinary thinker who believed that the role of planning is to balance human needs with their environment.

To complement the exhibition, the School of the City at Liebling Haus is holding workshops on Tel Aviv-Yafo and our lives in the city through sensory experiences: observation, listening, dwelling, and imagination. The school offers an interdisciplinary approach developed by professionals from architecture, design, urbanism, and art.
