The fifth European Night of Literature invites audiences to take flight through stories, discovering European places through fresh and unexpected perspectives. Through stories of travel, migration, distance and belonging, the event explores how journeys shape our identities, how places become home, and how the same landscape can feel familiar to one person and foreign to another.
Over two evenings, renowned Israeli actors will bring selected stories by European authors to life in Hebrew. Live music, short film screenings, discussion panels and creative workshops will offer further ways to explore the connections between places, cultures and personal experiences. This year’s Hebrew title, מעוף הסיפור, evokes both “the flight of the story” and a bird’s-eye view—a chance to see familiar landscapes from a different angle.
Today’s evening begins at 19:00 with a welcome drink and brief opening remarks, followed by literary readings and an intimate conversation between Shiri Lev-Ari and novelist Yishai Sarid, whose books are widely translated into other languages.
The accompanying program includes short film screenings, live music and more.
The event is organized in collaboration with the European Delegation to Israel, the Czech Centre Tel Aviv, the Goethe-Institut Israel, the Austrian Cultural Forum Tel Aviv, the Polish Institute Tel Aviv, the Romanian Cultural Institute Tel Aviv, the Embassy of Portugal in Tel Aviv, the Instituto Cervantes Tel Aviv, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Tel Aviv, the Embassy of Lithuania to Israel, the Lithuanian Culture Institute, and the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv.
