פרטים | Information
We live in the city and take it for granted, but urban planners and architects planned the entire city. In this workshop, we will explore urban planning and learn how it affects our daily lives. We will meet Patrick Geddes, the first planner of Tel Aviv, learn about ecological thinking that sees the connection between people, plants, and the city, and delve into the idea of a garden city. Participants will experience planning a Tel Aviv residential neighborhood themselves and practice original and creative thinking in urban planning.
Duration: 90 min
The workshop is for children ages 9-11
Led by arch. Dana Mor from the School of the City team
This activity takes place as part of the exhibition Life, Plant, City: 100 Years of Geddes' Plan for Tel Aviv's Garden City. The exhibition explores the planning and social vision of Patrick Geddes, planner of the city of Tel Aviv and a multidisciplinary thinker who believed that the role of planning is to balance human needs with their environment.
To complement the exhibition, the School of the City at Liebling Haus is holding workshops on Tel Aviv-Yafo and our lives in the city through sensory experiences: observation, listening, dwelling, and imagination. The school offers an interdisciplinary approach developed by professionals from architecture, design, urbanism, and art.
No prior knowledge is required for the workshops and tours.
