building story

How do you say space? How do you revive the spirit of the place? From Philip Johnson's Glass House in the United States to Alvar Aalto's Louis Carre House in France, this event will focus on a variety of strategies for presenting prominent modern architecture around the world. We will examine the traditional approach to presenting these buildings to the public, often focusing on their extraordinary physical properties. We will then present contemporary approaches to the curation of art exhibitions in these unique spaces, which give visitors a fascinating experience that enhances the space.
Participants: Natasha Darba, CEO and founder of the Iconic Houses Network at Beit van Schindel (Netherlands); Hilary Lewis, Chief Curator and Artistic Director of the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the Glass House, which was the home of architect-planner, Philip Johnson (USA); Vasdis Olafsdottir, director of Maison Louis Carré designed by Alvar Aalto (France).
