Diversity in Uniformity: Ramat Aviv B – from Model Housing Estate to Model Neighborhood

The area known as Ramat Aviv B was built in stages from the late 1950s to the early 1980s, and is one of the outstanding examples in Israel of a homogeneous and high-quality space in its design in the style we know today as 'brutalist', the construction process over almost three decades provides a historical perspective and allows an examination of the context between socio-political processes of Israeli society and their concrete manifestations in the built environment. To a large extent, the neighborhood reflects the history of Israel in these decades and the changes and social transformations in the country. The purpose of the study is to document the characteristics of the neighborhood in order to find concrete guidelines for maintaining the image of Ramat Aviv B. During the preparation of the study, many issues were raised, some of which were answered, while others remained open.
