Icomos Convention from Roof War to Roof top

The seventh session of Context, Contrast, Continuity – Heritage Conservation and Urban Development focuses on rooftops and their functions in modern and contemporary architecture.

We will discuss various rooftop variations and their benefits, ranging from (eco) rooftop terraces to structures that provide additional space for housing or solar panels. Which lessons can be migrated from modern architecture to contemporary buildings? And what are the effects of the changing proportions, urban scale, and spirit of place?

Architects Amir Peleg (Tel Aviv) and Stefan Forster (Frankfurt am Main) join architecture historian Ana Tostões, president of Docomomo International, to discuss the different aspects of rooftops.
